The event will include readings from Tamer’s latest publication I Will not Write Poetry and Other Texts, which is the third book in the Children of the Sea and Groves series. The series captures the experiences of Palestinian children during times of war. It began with Children of the Sea Memoirs in 2014, followed by What Becomes of Eid? in 2022, and today we present readings from the third book, Will Not Write Poetry and Other Texts in 2025. These texts were written by children in Gaza during the first half of 2024. We are presenting reading of selected texts today, in 2025, after the war has ended, as a living testament to the genocide and as a message to the world that politics, journalism, or war cannot convey.

We will trace the history of baby books in Japan starting from the million sellers published in the 60s up to some of the recent experimental titles, and analyze their unique representations that continue to fascinate both babies and adults.

The modern world is a world of information. The Internet, artificial intelligence, and social media influencers flood us with an endless stream of data on any topic every day. But along with this, the amount of fake news, manipulation, and disinformation is also growing. Children and teenagers are particularly vulnerable to these challenges, as they interact with digital content from an early age. How do books help them distinguish between truth and fiction, critically evaluate information, and make informed decisions?
Event participants will discuss the role of reading in developing critical thinking and information literacy, share successful practices and research, and explore how literature teaches children to analyze information and make conscious choices.

How to reinterpret a classic? Creating a new aesthetic, a new imagery, means being able to see a classic through the eyes of one's own history, experience and personality. The search for a resonance between oneself and the words and main concepts of the story creates new and unexpected paths, gives new life to a story and helps us connecting to the world and to ourselves.
