BCBF always pays special attention to translation and the role of the translator in the exchange of international rights, hosting each year at the fair the “Translator’s Centre”. So it has decided to support the "In Other Words", the new UK project of Booktrust promoting the translation and publication of key work of children's literature.
Thanks to the support of the Arts Council England, the Booktrust will sponsor ten sample translations from ten books not yet published in the United Kingdom, and these will be presented to British publishers at the next Children's Book Fair on April 4, 2017. Ten outstanding titles will be available for right’s purchase and four of these will be designated "honorary titles" and recommended to UK publishers. The selection will be made by a jury of experts selected by Booktrust and consists of recognized translators and literary experts for teenagers. British publishers will receive financial support to the sum of £1500 per book to cover marketing and promotion expenses of the winning titles.
