Among Bologna Children's Book Fair initiatives linked to illustrated art there is an exhibition organized by the Fair that continues to arouse unprecedented interest.
Inaugurated with great success in Madrid in 2015, the collective of original tables "Illustration for children. Italian Excellence ", created by the Italian Cultural Institute of Madrid together with BolognaFiere and the support of the Emilia-Romagna Region, has undertaken a successful international tour that saw it move from Bologna to Berlin, Abu Dhabi, Sofia, Beijing, Cairo, Tehran, Canton, Santiago de Chile, Athens and Thessaloniki, Lima, Moscow, São Paulo, Shenzhen (China) and Taiwan.
On display more than 60 original works by 18 Italian illustrators documenting the creative path of artists who over two generations, have created unique ideas and opened up new avenues for the illustrated children’s book. The illustrators in the show ,with varying styles and forms, represent the excellence in Italian illustration for children. They are: Beatrice Alemagna, Anna and Elena Balbusso, Chiara Carrer, Mara Cerri, Sara Fanelli, Philip Giordano, Roberto Innocenti, Federico Maggioni, Giovanni Manna , Lorenzo Mattotti, Simona Mulazzani, Simone Rea, Sergio Ruzzier, Arianna Vairo, Alessandro Sanna, Guido Scarabottolo, Pia Valentinis and Olimpia Zagnoli.
