On the occasion of Italy's participation as Guest of Honour at the Frankfurter Buchmesse 2024, BCBF presents the exhibition From Illustration to Comics. Pencils in Talented Young Hands, curated by Accademia Drosselmeier, with the collaboration of AIE.
The exhibition brings together thirty young illustrators, offering a collective narrative of a new generation of talent. Thirty stories and thirty different approaches to the craft are showcased, divided into four thematic areas to highlight the various aspects of illustration: picture books, editorial illustration, comics, and finally ‘beyond the book,’ acknowledging the wide world outside the page to which the Bologna Fair has always given great prominence.
In this way, BCBF continues its mission to promote Italian children’s illustration internationally. As early as 2021, during the height of the pandemic, BCBF launched an edition of Eccellenze italiane dedicated to young artists, many of whom were just starting out, as a sign of confidence in the future.
