“Look!” is the inviting title for Germany’s presentation as next year’s Guest of Honour at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, the most important international platform for illustration and book for children and young adult.
The logo for the Guest of Honour appearance, with its three colourful birds, is the work of the well known and multiple award-winning illustrator Ole Könnecke.
And it’s well worth taking a look! At the heart of the presentation will be an approximately 300 square metre exhibition of original works by a selection of talented illustrators living in Germany who deserve to be discovered internationally. Another part of the presentation will be an exhibition of books by artists who are already established. A dedicated catalogue for the exhibition will be available.
On top of this, in the four themed forums of the fair (the Illustrators’ Café, Digital Café, Authors’ Café and Translators’ Café) will see a number of different trade events on the respective topics. Meanwhile a collective stand will present the German publishing industry to the international trade visitors as it does every year.
Germany in Bologna 2016 is organized by the Frankfurt Book Fair that will be presenting the appearance at the exhibition site while the Goethe-Institut Italy is responsible for the cultural programme in the city to accompany the Guest of Honour participation.
