1. AIMS
"Join The Revolution! Giving Every Child Good Books" is the title of an Initiative (hereinafter "the Initiative"), organised by BolognaFiere S.p.A., in partnership with IBBY Italia and Accademia Drosselmeier, within the framework of the Bologna Children's Book Fair, an exhibition organised by said BolognaFiere to be held from 8 to 11 April 2024 at the Bologna Exhibition Centre, and part of the preparations for the 39th Congress of IBBY - International Board on Books for Young People, to be held in Trieste from 30 August to 1 September 2024.
The Initiative entails a theme-based Contest for the creation of a poster aimed to promote renewed interest in reading and put into practice IBBY principles, first among these the right of all children wherever in the world to read along with the need to combat educational poverty, for which books are an effective remedy.
2. PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS
The Contest is open to illustrators, graphic designers, book designers, visual artists, and editorial service operators, provided participants were born before 31 December 2006.
Participants must complete the online Participation Form and submit - in digital format - one (1) original (unpublished) illustration whose subject is specific to the theme of the Contest. The illustration may be in black and white or colour, and created with any technique, in accordance with the specifications indicated in Art.4.
Whatever the technique used, illustration size must also comply with the specifications set out in Art. 4.
Participation in the Contest shall imply full acceptance of these Regulations.
3. SUBJECT MATTER OF THE POSTER SUBMITTED
Candidates are invited to produce and submit an image that graphically interprets and/or illustrates the theme of the title of the Contest.
4. SPECIFIC TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS REGARDING THE IMAGE
The original (unpublished) image, produced specifically for this theme-based Contest, must exhibit the following characteristics:
Poster format: 70x100 cm
Digital file (to be submitted as indicated in Art. 5):
File: JPG or PNG
Resolution: 300 DPI
Text to be included in the poster:

Submissions that include other text, logos, or a different text shall not be accepted or taken into consideration.
The image must be pertinent to the stated aim of the Contest.
5. SUBMISSION OF THE IMAGE
Registration and submission by the candidate of his/her file shall be carried out exclusively on the Bologna Children's Book Fair website www.bolognachildrensbookfair.com
Participants must fill in the Participation Form and upload the image of their work online.
6. DEADLINE
Candidate registration and file submission shall be accepted FROM 10 May TO 30 November 2023.
Entries submitted after the deadline of 30 November 2023 shall not be accepted or taken into considered.
7. SELECTION OF WINNERS
Images – submitted no later than 30 November 2023 - that meet the Regulation requirements will be examined and the winners selected from the submissions by an International Jury of experts. The decision of the Jury shall be final.
The Initiative shall be presented within the framework of the 2024 BCBF. Subsequently, in August/September, during the IBBY World Congress in Trieste, the winners will be announced and their posters presented, with indication of the author of each poster. During the IBBY Congress, national IBBY sections will be offered the opportunity to receive the executive files of the posters so they can be printed and affixed on walls, in schools, libraries and other public buildings, such as post offices, banks, transport, etc. in the cities of the respective countries.
During the 2025 edition of BCBF, an exhibition of the winning posters will be staged.
8. SUBMISSION OF AN HR FILE OF THE WINNING POSTERS
Winners must send a high-resolution file of their selected image to the address they will receive by e-mail.
9. USE OF THE IMAGE
Illustrators shall remain the exclusive owners of their image, but hereby agree for a period of 10 (ten) years to grant BolognaFiere and any national IBBY section the free non-exclusive right to:
- print the poster and publish the image online as part of the Initiative, provided the name of the author of each poster is indicated;
- reproduce the poster on leaflets or other printed matter as well as on any other support (computer, on-line systems, etc.) also for promotional purposes of this Initiative or any other initiative developed by BCBF or by national IBBY sections, provided the name of the author of each poster is indicated;
- grant permission, also to third parties, to reproduce the works in the media, newsletters and social networks for promotional purposes of the Initiative, provided the name of the author of each poster is indicated.
10. LIABILITY
Participants hereby expressly hold BolognaFiere harmless in respect of all liability and claims by third parties in relation to the contents of the illustrations.
11. CANCELLATION OF AND CHANGES TO THE INITIATIVE
BolognaFiere may, at its sole discretion, cancel the Initiative or change its dates, without incurring any liability whatsoever towards the participants.
12. PRIVACY POLICY
BolognaFiere undertakes to process the personal data of candidates in the Initiative pursuant to the provisions of Regulation (EU) No. 2016/679, the guidelines and provisions of the Italian Data Protection Authority, and any other applicable legislation.

13. ITALIAN JURISDICTION AND COMPETENT COURT
On applying, candidates accept all rules and regulations that BolognaFiere may issue. Relations between participants and BolognaFiere shall be governed by Italian law. Any dispute arising with regard to the Initiative shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the Italian judicial authorities with exclusive competence of the Court of Bologna.
