The three BolognaBookPlus training events have become popular stalwarts annually. They are:  How to Sell Rights and Understand Licensing in Children’s BooksCall Your Agent: How to Become a Successful Literary Agent, and Writing and Self-Publishing in Italy and Beyond. Each event is crafted to deliver the important knowledge and processes to assist individuals in building skills and confidence. They are led by expert speakers. The knowledge and skills learnt are enhanced by the unique networking opportunities and the Q & A speaker sessions.

How to Sell Rights and Understand Licensing in Children’s Books 

30 April 2025

This event delivers a thorough explanation of copyright, the cornerstone of all rights, and the essential steps of rights selling, an essential base for anyone starting off, or considering, a career in rights, or those in their first year or two, and wish to consolidate their knowledge. It’s also very good training for those in contracts or related areas, or self-published children’s authors. It is delivered by children’s rights experts with proven experience across many territories and markets.

Self-Publishing: How to Succeed in Italy and Abroad 

31 march & 1 April 2025

This is an invaluable event for all those aspiring or new authors who wish to forge a career in self-publishing. It covers platforms, marketing, different genres, legal considerations, social media and day one looks specifically at the craft of writing, and honing your skills.

Call Your Agent: How to Become a Successful Literary Agent 

2 April 2025

Literary agents represent writers, assisting them in obtaining publishing contracts, and negotiating the best terms. They focus on the business side often, but also offer their authors creative guidance too. In the book world it is not always clear how to get started in this world. This unique event will guide you through explanations of how agents and scouts work; how to find authors; scouting, how publishing works and how to do the best for your authors. If you are thinking of becoming an agent, or in your first year or two, this half day will inform and enthuse.
