The 2021 selected illustrators

The 2021 Exhibition “The Children-Spectators” organised within the framework of the “Mapping – A map on the aesthetics of performing arts for early years” received 584 illustrations from 61 countries and regions.

The Jury - made up of Roberto Frabetti (Teatro Testoni – La Baracca, Jury Chairman), Giorgia Grilli (University of Bologna), Giulia Orecchia (illustrator) and Maurizio Quarello (illustrator, Macerata Academy) selected 35 illustrations from 20 countries and regions, namely Argentina, Brazil, China, Colombia, Ecuador, Hungary, Iran, Ireland, Italy, Malaysia, Peru, Poland, Russia, South Korea, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, United Kingdom, USA.

The illustrators selected have been included in the exhibition “The Children-Spectators” to be discovered online at BCBF Galleries and on Visioni online of the Visioni di futuro – Visioni di teatro Festival of Bologna’s Teatro La Baracca Testoni Ragazzi.

The winners will be automatically candidates to be part of the large itinerant exhibition marking the conclusion of the “Mapping” project, organised by several institutions in partnership with BolognaFiere/ Bologna Children’s Book Fair, and including a selection of the most interesting illustrations making up the annual “Children-Spectators” Exhibitions, together with the illustrations of the four artists invited to collaborate with the research project’s various working groups. After showing at the 2023 Bologna Children’s Book Fair, the exhibition will then tour the partner cities during the international 2023 Season Festivals.
