Patrizia Raveggi graduated from the University and the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa and continued her post-graduate studies in Rome. Her first experiences in translation and her encounter with the great classics of Slovenian literature, Ciril Kosmač and Fran Levstik, were followed by a gap period: she was sent by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to direct Italian cultural institutes abroad and to coordinate their cultural activities with institutes in neighbouring countries. In other words, she continued to act as a bridge between cultures from a different angle. Upon her return to Europe, she resumed translating modern and contemporary Slovenian authors such as Vitomil Zupan, Goran Vojnović, Mirt Komel, Dušan Šarotar, Gregor Strniša, Marko Kravos, Ivanka Herzgold, Katja Perat, Tadej Golob, Ivanka Hergold, Berta Bojetu Boeta, Andreja Peklar.
