BCBF's creativity at Pitti Immagine Bimbo

The Bologna Children's Book Fair returns to Pitti Immagine Bimbo for the summer edition of the trade show  dedicated to children's fashion (20-22 June).

BCBF brings to Florence the best of children's books and illustration through two initiatives that over the years have evolved into two very successful formats.

The Extraordinary Library-HERSTORY: 200 children's books dedicated to women

A special space is reserved for a new chapter in the series The Extraordinary Library, the special collections of children's books created by the collaboration between BCBF and Pitti Immagine Bimbo. This bibliographic exhibition, curated by Cooperativa Giannino Stoppani/Accademia Drosselmeier, also saw the collaboration of the International Book Fair of Turin, where it was previewed last May.

Not "HIStory" but "HERstory", an all-female story contained in the books that tell the story of women of the past and present, real and imagined, women and girls, starting from the titles on display: a representation of the female faithful to reality through the work of writers, illustrators, editors.

On show are the 200 international titles from the thousands of books that arrive in Bologna every year to take part in the BolognaRagazzi Award, an award that has been one of the most coveted international awards in the world of children's publishing.

Off the Page... and into the World of Fashion

Alongside the bibliographic exhibition is the fourth edition of the exhibition Off the Page...and into the World of Fashion, which once again brings illustration to the forefront through the works of twenty-five artists of the 2019 Illustrators Exhibition selected by the Pitti Immagine team.

The initiative was born with the aim of bringing the rich visual heritage of children's books into the world of fashion triggering a new dialogue between the illustration and the fashion collections on show.
