The 2016 Illustrators’ Exhibition @ Taipei

The 2016 Illustrators’ Exhibition is still on a world tour. After stopping in Japan, it' will be at the Huashan 1914 Taipei Creative Park until april 26 2017.

The same location has previously hosted prestigious exhibitions, and belongs to the city’s heritage. Formerly a brewery, it was later discovered by a passionate bunch of artists who asked the governament to turn that derelict building into a space for the arts. The governament agreed, so Huashan has been Taipei’s art district ever since.

The exhibition presents the 2016 Bologna Children’s Book Fair Illustrator’s Exhibition. A board will show some highlights, starting from the first taiwanese illustrator selected, until today’s winner of International Award for Illustration Bologna Children’s Book Fair’s - Fundación SM 2011, Page Tsou. His book “The Gift” got the 2017 BRAW Jury’s Arts Book Special Mention.

The Exhibition stretches on to a very extended area. The artists get introduced accordingly to their continent of origin and some of their works (as Bruna Valls' “Summer Holidays”, just to pick one) have been selected as embellishing props for the settings.

We’d love to highlight that the Exhibition’s invitation and the interior walls are displaying the works of emerging italian illustrator Daniele Castellano. Besides being among the selected artists, he is the one who provided The Chimera, the official illustration for the 54th Bologna Children’s Book Fair. He got chosen by the Fair itself and Chialab.

Last but not least, some special attention will be payed to Juan Palomino, a very young mexican artist who got awarded the 7th International Award for Illustration Bologna Children’s Book Fair’s - Fundación SM 2016. During the Fair, Palomino is going to host a personal exhibition, and present his new illustrated book, internationally distributed by spanish publisher SM.
