On October 30, the Bologna Exhibition Centre officially started the redevelopment and expansion, with an investment of 100 million euros and a final target of 140 thousand square meters of exhibition area to be completed by 2022.
The project, curated by the studio Di Gregorio Associati, is based on a new vision of an exhibition space, in which the avenues will become dotted with urban spaces with gardens and catering outlets, which will link the different functions attached to the exhibition events and its related services.
Natural lighting will play a key role, enhanced by large transparent and translucent surfaces that will highlight structural elements as well as their architectural experience. The key element will be the eco living system, for natural pleasure in moments of rest and recuperation in between business meetings.
The first phase of the project will involve the demolition and total reconstruction of pavilions 29 and 30, which will be ready for the 2019 edition of Bologna Children's Book Fair.
In the meantime, exhibitors traditionally placed in these two pavilions will find the well-lit pavilions 21,22 and 32 waiting for them; we are currently designing a new layout for them and for all our visitors in order to make it easy for them to change and enjoy the wait for the great new places available in 2019.
