The 2021 Annual cover Author

Bologna Children's Book Fair hosts every other year the winners of the most prestigious children’s book awards in the arts.

After the Iranian artist Hassan Mousavi, winner of the BIB – Biennial of Illustration Bratislava Grand Prix 2019, the 2021 edition of the Fair will present Albertine (Switzerland), winner of the 2020 Hans Christian Andersen Award.

According to custom, the artist has been commissioned to create the cover for the Illustrators Annual that will accompany the 2021 Illustrators Exhibition and his original works will be presented in the artist’s solo exhibition during the Fair.

Albertine was born in 1967 in Dardagny, Switzerland. She draws for the press, makes posters, objects, and she works with the animation movie and the theater.

She taught screen printing and illustration for seventeen years at HEAD in Geneva, then decided to quit teaching to devote herself entirely to her work.

Albertine has published extensively for children and adults alike, many in collaboration with author Germano Zullo. Their albums have won numerous awards including the New York Times Best Illustrated Children's Book Award in 2012, the Bologna Ragazzi Award Fiction in 2016, and the Hans Christian Andersen Award 2020.

She regularly exhibits her work in Switzerland and abroad.
