"La leyenda de Don Fermín" is an original story of Manuel Marsol inspired by the tradition of Spanish legends. It tells the story of the mysterious disappearance of Don Fermín, a medieval knight who walked out on horseback and did not return again. This disappearance gave rise to many hypotheses about what could have happened to him, and on those legend through the centuries the story is based.

The original works were presented in the artist’s solo exhibition during BCBF 2018.
The jury of experts for the 2017 Award was made up of Rotraut Susanne Berner (Germany), Maria Jesús Gil (Spain), Lorenzo Mattotti (Italy).
Manuel Marsol (1984, Madrid) obtained a degree in Advertising, film & media, and he has been working as art director for 3 years doing tv commercials. In 2012 he decided to focus only on his great passion, illustration, and he studied children’s illustration at EINA school (Barcelona).
Manuel has already published many books among those: Ahab y la ballena blanca, Edelvives, 2014, Madrid; O tempo do gigante, Orfeu Negro, 2015, Lisbon; La Metamorfosis, AstroRey Books, 2015, Barcelona; El gato de Brasil, Ekaré, 2016, Barcelona; Fantasías Extraordinarias 2, Ultrarradio, 2016, Madrid; “La Venus de las Pieles”, Sexto Piso, 2016; “A Minha Cidade: Madrid”, Pato Lógico, 2017.
In 2015 he was awarded the National Prize Banda Desenhada (Amadora BD, Portugal) – Best Children's Picturebook illustrations (Foreign Illustrator) for O Tempo do Gigante (Orfeu Negro); in 2014 he won the V edition of the Iberoamerican Catalogue of Illustration FIL Guadalajara-México and the International Prize for Picture Books by Edelvives. In the last 4 years he has been selected every year to participate in the Bologna Children's Book Fair’s Illustrators Exhibition.
