Is there something in the air?

A playful antivirus

A few days into the Covid-19 crisis, a Milan hospital asked the famous children’s author, Roberto Piumini, to write a piece for children on the subject. The result was the informative yet delightfully playful ‘Coronavirus Rhyme’. Published on Facebook, it soon went ‘viral’. So much so that the Italian translators’ associations, AITI and STRADE, decided to help give the text a global reach, translating it into several languages. Bologna Children’s Book Fair happily put its name to the initiative.

More than thirty translators from all over the world enthusiastically signed up. The ‘linguistic merry-go-round’ that emerged is a way of reaching out to the world’s children with a message of solidarity and cooperation that will help defeat the pandemic.
