2024 BRAW JURY: NON-FICTION & THE SEA

Ana Garralón (Madrid, 1965) has been studying and working with children´s books since the late 1980: as primary school teacher, bookseller, critic, writer, anthologist, blogger and workshop instructor.

She has taught as invited professor at the Master's Degree in Children's Literature at the University of Barcelona (UAB), as well at the University of Zaragoza and at the Master's Degree on Illustration Iconi Album. Over the years, she has brought her workshops to many cities of Spain and Latin America. 

A well-known critic, she has written in several specialized magazines. In her blog http://anatarambana.blogspot.com she regularly analyses issues related to children's books, write reviews and teachers online course on topics like Nonfiction for children, Review writing, and Photography in Children’s Books, among others.

She received a scholarship from the International Youth Library (IJB) in Munich, where she did research that allowed her to publish her first book: Portable History of Children's Literature (2001 / reissue 2017). Since then, she has written books about Cervantes, published a selection of Latin American poetry for children, among others. Her latest book is Reading and knowing. Nonfiction books for children (2013).

In 2016 she received the National Award for Promotion of Reading, granted by the Spanish Ministry of Culture, Education and Sport
