This event delivers a thorough explanation of copyright, the cornerstone of all rights, and the essential steps of rights selling, an essential base for anyone starting off, or considering, a career in rights, or those in their first year or two, and wish to consolidate their knowledge. It’s also very good training for those in contracts or related areas, or self-published children’s authors. It is delivered by children’s rights experts with proven experience across many territories and markets.

Writing and Self-Publishing

The self-publishing arena is growing each year. Many aspiring authors choose this route to get their books to readers. It can, however, be bewildering as there are many platforms and organisations offering services. Getting started is the biggest challenge. This two-day event will guide you through the craft of writing on day one, and how to get your book published, navigating the self-publishing journey, on day two. The afternoons comprise various workshops to enable you to choose your own topics, these are delivered by some of the main self-publishing platforms.

Call Your Agent: How to Become a Successful Literary Agent

Literary agents represent writers, assisting them in obtaining publishing contracts, and negotiating the best terms. They focus on the business side often, but also offer their authors creative guidance too. In the book world it is not always clear how to get started in this world. This unique event will guide you through explanations of how agents and scouts work; how to find authors; scouting, how publishing works and how to do the best for your authors. If you are thinking of becoming an agent, or in your first year or two, this will be a half-day well spent.
