The celebration for the 2020 BOP – Bologna Prize for the Best Children’s Publishers of the Year is a key part of the BCBF Online Special Edition. The BOP Prize is awarded each year to showcase editorial projects, professional skills and intellectual qualities of work from publishing houses all over the world. Let’s meet Kaisei-Sha Publishing, nominee for ASIA!
Kaisei-sha was founded in 1936, and specializes in the publication of children’s books in all fields, including picture books, fiction and non-fiction.
About 3,000 titles are currently available, including some 1,200 translations. More than 100 new titles are published annually, and at present foreign editions of Kaisei-sha books exceed 1,000 titles.
These are translated into 40 languages and about 1,500,000 copies have been published to date.
Building on the achievements of the past seventy years, and with the support of a large readership,
Kaisei-sha will continue to strive to produce quality publications.
