Giordano

From a multi-cultural background thanks to a Filipino mother and Swiss father, Philip Giordano now lives and works in both Italy and Japan. After graduating from the Brera Fine Arts Academy, Philip studied illustration at Milan’s European Design Institute. In 2010, he won the Bologna Children’s Book Fair - Fundación SM Award. His first book as an author, Il pinguino che aveva freddo (Lapis edizioni, 2016), won him the 2017 Andersen Prize for the best book for 0 - 6 year-olds. The Chinese version of L'Étoile de Robin (Milan Editions, 2019) won Taiwan’s best young readers’ book of the year (OpenBook, 2021)

Philip’s numerous publications include his latest book, I Ate Sunshine for Breakfast (Flying Eye Books, 2020), which has been translated in over 23 countries and was selected by London’s Royal Society for its Young People's Book Prize Annual. In 2018, Giordano was a jury member of the illustrators’ exhibition at the Sharjah International Book Fair in the UAE, and in 2020 at China’s Shanghai International Children's Book Fair (CCBF).
