The celebration for the 2020 BOP – Bologna Prize for the Best Children’s Publishers of the Year is a key part of the BCBF Online Special Edition. The BOP Prize is awarded each year to showcase editorial projects, professional skills and intellectual qualities of work from publishing houses all over the world. Let’s meet Éditions Mijade, nominee for EUROPE!
Created in 1993, Mijade is a publishing house that specializes in picture books for young children and novels for older children and young adults.
Mijade’s picture books are of illustrated fiction for children between ages two and seven. They are designed for enjoyment within the family and also for use by pre-school, kindergarten, and primary school teachers as well as by libraries.
About 50% of the published books are new creations while the other 50% are either translations or out-of-print books. As a result, Mijade offers best-selling books published within the past 25 years that both book professionals and the larger public were sorry to see disappear.
In addition to its picture book catalog, Mijade has a department dedicated to small-sized books called Petits Mijade as well as three collections of novels, Passages for readers ages 6-9, Zone J for readers ages 9-15 and Mijade Romans for readers ages 15 and over.
