Bologna Children's Book Fair hosts every other year the winners of the most prestigious children’s book awards in the arts.
After the exhibition of Ludwig Volbeda the 2019 edition of the Fair will present the Russian artist Igor Oleynikov, winner of the 2018 Hans Christian Andersen Award - considered the Nobel Prize for children’s literature.
Igor Oleynikov (Lubertsi, Moscow, 1953) graduated from the Moscow Institute of Chemical Engineering and for three years he worked as an engineer.
In 1979 he started working first as an assistant and then as an art director at the animation studio “Soyuzmultfilm”. In 1986, he began working as an illustrator of magazines and children’s books. Since 2003 he has been working for publishing houses in Canada, Switzerland, Greece, Korea, Taiwan, USA, Italy and Japan. In 2009 he stopped his work in animation and now only works as a book illustrator.
Igor Oleynikov has illustrated more than 80 books.
