PUBLISHING ACTIVITY

Established in 1981, Mkuki na Nyota Publishers Ltd (MNP) emerged in response to the general absence of high-quality and independent publishing in Tanzania. We aim to encourage and develop a reading culture in Tanzania, as well as to nurture indigenous literature as a method of preserving and sharing Tanzanian and African voices and stories with the continent and the rest of the world. Our vision is to be a fiercely independent and vibrant Tanzanian imprint publishing relevant, progressive, liberating, affordable, and entertaining content. Our mission is to publish, “Relevant Books, Affordable Books, and Beautiful books.”
